Des Plaines, Illinois, September 7, 2011 / PRNewswire / - The Insurance Bureau of National Crime released a report today on the theft of heavy equipment in 2010. This report isolates the "big ticket" items of heavy equipment stolen and therefore all types of cutting equipment were excluded. The report examines the heavy equipment flight data submitted by law enforcement of the National Crime Information Center ( NCIC) and profiles the data according to state flight, the city of theft, months, equipment manufacturer, the style of equipment (type) and year of manufacture.The report also examines heavy equipment recoveries in 2010 based on these same criteria.
Texas was the number one state for flights of heavy machinery in 2010, followed in order, California, Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Maryland, Ohio and Alabama. The top five cities with the most flights were in Miami, Florida, number one, followed, in order, by Houston, Texas, Phoenix, Arizona, Conroe, Texas, and Las Vegas, Nevada
