The Cure play epic Bestival headline set

The Cure played a 32-song play in the slot as Saturday at Bestival.

Robert Smith has played alongside the old classics Caterpillar In Between Days, The Lovecats, Just Like Heaven and Boys Do not Cry.

Former keyboardist Roger O'Donnell joined the band on stage for two and a half hours together.

Saturday saw a host of eclectic acts perform on the bill including Bestival Paloma Faith, Mercury winner PJ Harvey and The Village People.

Bestival organizer Rob Da Bank said it had fulfilled an ambition for the festival by getting to play The Cure at Bestival.

The DJ said the Isle of Wight radio: "It took years, I think from the Bestival seconds when I started thinking, maybe one day I got up at the rectory.

"While seven good years to harass Robert Smith and his band to do so, he finally folded and agreed. I am totally impressed.
