Susan G. Komen for the Cure(R) Announces $238000 Investment to Improve Breast ...

MONTERREY, Mexico, August 26, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) - Susan G. Komen for the Cure (R), a global leader in the organization of breast cancer, today announced $ 238 000 in grants to improve Mexico's health care in the country. The grants are the first of a three-year, $ 2 million partnership with Caterpillar Foundation to raise awareness of breast cancer, screening and early detection results in resource-poor communities in Mexico and America Latin.

The grants were announced today at a press conference at Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey. After the announcement, a roundtable was held to discuss the state of the health system in Monterrey in care of the breast. Participants at the roundtable, the Mexican Minister of Health for the State of Nuevo Leon, Dr. Jesus Perez Zacarias Villarreal, Dr Catherine Susan G. Oliveros Komen for the Cure, Alfredo Rodriguez Villarreal, Human Resources Manager for Caterpillar in Mexico, Komen and partners and beneficiaries.

Little Swamp Creek Wildlife - Summer Recap

Our friends at the Foundation's Adopt-A-Stream are back on the banks of the Little Swamp Creek, this time preparing to work to restore coastal streams on the property behind us. So, as they are there working hard in the rain down the plants mature and staging, I will, with great conviction, start catching up on the blog that inspired me to start. The deer destroyed our initial culture by eating raspberries, sugar cane and all. And they ate the top half of all our tomato plants.They obviously enjoyed the red osier dogwood bushes in our yard and behind the barrier, which is just fine with me, because they hold well to snacking and have a lot of them. We've been seeing a maximum of four deer at a time here during the summer. Just a few days ago a lone deer was biting on plants at the edge of the road when I left.
