Illinois Manufacturing Extension Center (IMEC) led a consortium of five Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) centers to gain a three-year federal government to increase the capacity of the MRP system to improve performance and competitiveness of the chains U.S. supply.
"In today's global economy, growth and profitability of all businesses depends on the competitiveness of supply chains in which they participate," said Bob Weinstein, IMEC President, who noted that in Illinois, building smaller and medium sized enterprises support manufacturers, aerospace, automotive equipment, and other major supply chains in the United States. "Now more than ever, suppliers all levels of the supply chain needs to demonstrate the quality of world-class products, cost and speed of delivery, in order to remain competitive."
Under the contract from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), IMEC in collaboration with the MEP centers in California, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia, will work with a section of U.S. Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and first-tier suppliers to develop and improve procurement services provided by MEP centers. The aim of this initiative is to develop suppliers in existing supply chains and help build supply chains for new growth areas.
