Six months on from tsunami, picture show Japan's journey to recovery

These pairs of extraordinary images - one taken at the time of the disaster, the second from the same spot last week - show both how far Japan has come over the last six months, and yet how far it has yet to go to fully recover.

Today, the survivors of Kesennuma more digging in the ruins of their homes and the debris was cleared. Roads and rail lines that had been rendered impassable by machinery, wood and heavy pieces of twisted, unrecognizable metal have been cleared.

Where once there was only a carpet made up of remnants of this city shattered the foundations of buildings are all that are left and greenery, encouraged by cool, wet summer has passed. Mountains of debris that were dumped on the outskirts of many cities have also taken hints of green that nature sets.

I feel like this could be my reality ("What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the Master calls a butterfly.") This seems to be the end of the world to me just now could be the beginning a beautiful new faze in my life, and for that I would be grateful.
