Hummer-Inspired Chinese Trucks (1): Dongfeng “Hanma� (EQ-2050, 2058)

Hummer's powerful beasts have been sterilized in their country of origin, but lack of heirs or imitators in the Middle Kingdom. Although the supply of machinery Tengzhong Heavy Industries to buy the brand has been rejected by the Chinese government, many companies are determined to keep alive this "symbol of conspicuous consumption", expect more Chinese to embrace American greatness.

A good number of native civilians brand cars and trucks, Hummers have claimed to be Chinese. Some, like the newly released Explorer 6 and Foday Dongfeng Xiaokang V27, are hardly similar.However, three appear to be faithful followers of the Hummer to both the spirit and form. Whether good or bad in substance, they are true contenders.

(1) Dongfeng "Hanma" EQ-2050/2058

The most famous impersonator of Chinese Dongfeng Hummer "Hanma," the civilian version of the EQ-2050/2058 military truck (called "Mengshi" in Chinese). Originally from AM General HMMWV, EQ-2050/2058 has used imported Hummer H1 chassis V8 and GM 6.5L diesel engines, while Dongfeng has worked hard for autonomy.
