Since the beginning of 2011, new diesel engines must meet Stage IIIB (EU) - Tier IVi (EPA) emission standards. Emissions of exhaust gas limits dictated by the new emission standards are performance significantly more stringent than the limits currently in force. This phase cur-rent of tighter regulations requires substantial changes in diesel engine technology as the new exhaust emissions limits can be achieved by the exhaust after-treatment de-vices.For construction machinery and equipment, engine manufacturers offer a main recirculation system cooled exhaust gas (EGR) and an integrated exhaust filter for diesel particulate matter (PM). Diesel engines should be used with diesel fuel ultra-low sulfur whose maximum sulfur content of 15 ppm.

Navistar Announces 17,000 trucks shipped: Offers emissions update

During a site visit for the media company's plant in Huntsville Engine Huntsville, AL, Navistar International Corporation announced it has sold about 17,000 vehicles for U.S. and Canadian customers during the past quarter.

During a tour of the facilities in Huntsville, which is unique Navistar engine plant in North America, providing products at seven truck factories Navistar U.S. and Canada, publishers have seen the production of engines under construction and pre-production MaxxForce 15 liter engines being assembled.The MaxxForce 15 is expected to come into full production next year.

"Like our other factories, our engine plant in Huntsville is operating in full production and shipment of hundreds of engines every week in our truck and bus assembly location," said Daniel Ustian, Chairman, President and CEO of Navistar. "To date, we have built and delivered more than 15,000 EPA-compliant vehicles 2010 and we continue to build more than 100 EPA2010 MaxxForce 13 engines every day.
