GM opens new state-of-the-art diesel engine plant in Rayong, Thailand

General Motors has opened a new $ 200 million, the diesel engine plant in Rayong, Thailand.

The new engine plant, which is adjacent to the GM plant in the manufacture of vehicles, will employ 500 workers and have the capacity to produce about 120,000 engines per year.

GM expects to source $ 94 million in Thailand and built components for engine production at its plant in Rayong in 2012, the company said in a press release.

The first engines to be manufactured at the factory for the new Chevrolet Colorado pickup.GM revealed the pickup Colorado Fair at the International Bangkok Motor earlier this year, Thailand calling "the world's largest market for mid-size pickups."
