Marines Test Battlefield Energy Technologies Under Mojave Sun

Twentynine Palms, Calif. - Marines prepare for Afghanistan at their sprawling base in the Mojave Desert.

They practice foot patrols in a simulated Afghan village whose residents are Pashto speaking actors. They live gunfire guaranteed to kill anyone within 100 meters. And last week, military brass used the setting of the desert in order to evaluate the energy technologies that could make life better for the Marines on the battlefield.

Marines to release the weight of additional batteries, the time for refueling and the sound of diesel generators, the Marine Corps has already tested the efficiency of solar technology and energy in Afghanistan.
