The lights go out. Who will you call?
In some cases, it will be your friend with a generator. However, the next time an outage strikes, you may be prepared with your own.
What exactly is a generator?
This is an engine that produces electricity with a generator attached. Hospitals, hotels, casinos like Barona and other major operators to use them. So do the owners and campers.

This is still the Chevy Volt? Is this a real electric car, hybrid or something in between? To find out, I decided to drive for me this weekend. The Volt was a road trip from his home base in Detroit all the way to Los Angeles this week for 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show. He made an overnight stop in Denver and I jumped at the chance for a ride.

It also has a 84-horsepower, 1.4-liter gasoline engine with four-cylinder that fires when the battery runs out and drives an electric generator. To answer my earlier question, the Volt is a battery electric car with a range extending gas generator.
The 13-page report issued by Friends of the Earth on Tuesday also expanded an earlier allegation that Southern California Edison misled federal regulators about extensive modifications to its troubled steam generators, a charge disputed by the Nuclear
