I purchased a cheap air compressor from Harbor Freight (94667). This air compressor was purchased...
I had to cut a couple (and, to be honest, a little) spare lines along the entire length of the crossings, using a hacksaw microphone. The key here is to cut all the way through the rings without cutting into the swing arm itself. To do this, I ran to the end of a paper clip to the length of the cut. I could feel the pressure on the clip which sections need more cutting and what items were cut through the swingarm. After two lines have been cut properly in the socket, I removed the sections together. Then the shells were sufficiently flexible to be compressed, and could be operated from the opposite side of the tube with a punch and a mallet.
