DIY is a great big lie. It's a conspiracy to three lanes from Lowes, Home Depot and HGTV to thin the herd through a series of fatal accidents renovation. I tried to be a DIY'er and it was a painful and shameful experience involving catastrophic injuries, excessive cursing, and marital instability, which may at a later date, be included in a divorce. It's not my fault that I'm desperate to improve my home, I come from a long line of anti-yourselfers. One of the favorite phrases from my father when I was young, was "to call someone."He had neither the time nor the desire to fix anything. My mother knew the number of man to do everything by heart. We even gave him a birthday and Christmas every year. Come to think of it, it was awfully close to the handyman. (Suddenly, as is explained.) Back in the day there was no shame in using a handyman. Now, when the fleets of the entrepreneur in your driveway is an open invitation to your neighbors to come and see what you do.Almost all tell you how you can be time-saving big money, if only you do it yourself and they say a condescending tone that implies either a slacker your worthless, recovering from a serious injury head or just not very good with money if you go to give "a contractor.
